HEADACHE & MIGRAINE TREATMENT

headaches-migraine

You may be wondering what some of the most common causes of a headache and/or migraine are and whether treatment is available for quick and effective relief. Luckily, Midwest Express Clinic is able to treat you seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., without an appointment.

Not only can we treat a primary headache, but we can also diagnose the type of headache you are experiencing and help you establish possible causes. Our goal at our Midwest Express Clinic is to provide treatment that will have patients on the road of recovery and feeling better in no time.

There are several types of headaches: Tension headaches, Cluster headaches, Sinus headaches, and migraines.

Tension Headaches, also known as primary headaches, are the most common form of headaches and can cause mild to moderate pain in the front, top, or side of the head. The pain will grow gradually throughout the day and can last between half hour and several days. With a tension headache, the pain may feel worse on the forehead area, right above your eyebrows. Symptoms of tension headaches can include nausea, vomiting and sensitivity to light. Secondary headaches can sometimes be symptoms of serious conditions, such as meningitis or an aneurysm.

If you are experiencing a primary headache, treatment is available at Midwest Express Clinic. In the event that you are experiencing a secondary headache, please go to the nearest emergency room as it could be the symptom of a life-threatening condition.

Cluster Headaches can be described as having a one-sided pain that may be accompanied by a constant burning or piercing effect. The pain can be described as being located behind the eyes, and lasting up to two hours several times throughout the day.

Sinus Headaches are located deep in the cheekbones, forehead, and even the bridge of the nose, and are accompanied by constant pain. The pain can be accompanied by discharge from your nose, a fever and facial swelling.

Migraines include a moderate to intense pain usually confined to one side of the head and often associated with nausea, vomiting, and sensitivity to light. Other side effects may include loss of appetite, fatigue, or dizziness. Most can experience at-home relief by applying a cool, damp cloth over the face while relaxing in a dark room.

The most important thing to remember with headaches and migraines is that they vary from person to person. Know your experience with headaches and accompanying symptoms – what is normal for you, and what is not.

Emergency care may be required if your headache is extremely severe, is accompanied by a stiff neck and fever, or causes you to have difficulty speaking or walking. A rule of thumb is to seek treatment at the ER if the headache is worse than any you’ve experienced.
