Fighting Childhood Hunger with FMSC
Nutritious meals are important for everyday health, especially for kids. Receiving essential nutrients helps ensure healthy growth and cognitive development, aids proper organ formation, and strengthens the immune system. Nutrition is also recognized as a pillar of social and economic development. Well-nourished people are more likely to contribute to their communities and grow their skills.
According to the UNICEF, approximately 3.1 million children die every year from under-nutrition. They are also more likely to suffer from illness.Improving child nutrition can have lasting effects across the globe and Midwest Express Clinic wants to help break the cycle.
In September 2019, Midwest Express Clinic joined Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) to fight childhood hunger. FMSC is a Christian non-profit organization that provides malnourished children around the world with nutritionally complete meals. During this event, Midwest Express employees helped pack 14,472 meals. That’s enough to feed 40 kids for an entire year! Those meals were then shipped to Haiti on September 19, 2019.
